An Elephantastic Trip

We traveled this week to Indiana from Salem, a 17-hour trip made better by our trusty Cracker Barrels-Across-America Map. The drive is a long one, so we did it in 1.5 days instead of in one. Even though we stopped every two hours, the decision has been made that when we travel to South Bend in August for Brandy and Yuri's wedding, we are taking the train. The gas prices that we saw at $4.31 also helped us reach this conclusion. A plus side to the car trip was that somewhere in New York, I think I felt the baby move for the first time. It was very slight, but when described to other moms they all said that was it. I'm not exactly convinced. I've had the same sensation a few times in the last week, but it should get stronger in the next week or two.

We got in the Friday before last so that we could host a surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner for my parents. The party went very well, my parents were thoroughly surprised, and we hope everyone had a good time.

For the rest of the week, we tried to spend most of our time with David's grandma who was in town from Wisconsin for Jeff's wedding the next weekend. One day the whole family went to the zoo which was very entertaining, especially when David and I got to go to the elephant show. After the show they invited the audience to come up to pet the elephants, and when David went up, the elephant lifted its tail and promptly passed gas in David's face. (This was much more entertaining to me than to him.) Elephants were quite the theme of the week, as we received first elephant baby gifts from my mom, the Vogel family, and Jeff and Hubbell. *Baby Godzilla is pleased.*

The absolute best part of the week was of course Hubbell and Jeff's amazing wedding. We went over to Cincinnati on Friday for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, which was a sunset river boat cruise along the Ohio--very fun. We had a blast the next day at the ceremony and the reception. The whole day was gorgeous and very emotional; I had to try very hard not to laugh at our wedding, but I couldn't stop tearing up at theirs. The happy couple not only looked great but were excellent hosts; we've never had so much fun at a wedding before. We can't wait to see the pictures.

Oh also, i love that you equate your baby's size to food...it makes me happy and gives a good visual. You look mad skinny in that photo. Aren't you supposed to be pregnant. Saw SATC movie...your going to die when you see it.
