David's parents came to visit this weekend, and we celebrated my graduation and Grandma's birthday. I have never been one for baking, but I tried my hand at a blueberry-lemon cake that turned out quite nicely.
The graduation ceremony was very nice, and Avonlea Jane was well-behaved, enough so to earn compliments. I am certainly glad that I decided to go, and Emerson did a fine job coordinating everything.
As for what I am going to do now, I have no plans for the near future. I am simply enjoying my time with Avonlea Jane.
Our commencement speaker (Rep. John Lewis) receiving his honorary degree.
Getting my degree, as seen on the jumbotron.
After the ceremony, Emerson hosted a large reception on Boston Common for the graduate students that was nicely catered and featured four Dixie bands. My hood isn't visible in any of our photos, but in this shot you can see the purple and gold M.A. hoods behind me.
On the Common, where it was quite bright.
I was surprised to get my actual degree on the day of graduation. We were presented our folders on stage and immediately afterward were given our diplomas and our first alumni t-shirt.
Much to David's embarrassment, I continued to wear my full costume on the Subway ride home. He insisted people were staring, but they were simply observing my obvious learnèdness.
Just for fun, a cute photo of Avonlea Jane from the weekend. (We think she looks like Uncle Dillon in this photo.)
