This weekend was full of sun and art. We saw a new exhibit at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. Then, we spent part of Saturday walking around the Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester, America's oldest continuous art colony. The summer art season is just starting on the North Shore, and we wanted to see what some of our favorite local artists had turned out over the winter.
After walking through the galleries and having lunch, we took Avonlea Jane on her first visit to Halibut Point State Park, one of our favorite places in Massachusetts. It is an old granite quarry in Rockport that overlooks the ocean and stretches of the New Hampshire and Maine coastlines.

Avonlea Jane enjoyed splashing her feet in the tide pools.
David spent a good deal of time at the park reading for work--not the best use of sunny day.
