Grandpa C flew into town for the day, and in his brief time here, he saw quite a bit. He also got to see two of Avonlea Jane's new skills: clapping and waving.
We took the Salem Ferry from Boston to Salem, which allowed us to get a great view of all of the Tall Ships in harbor for the Boston Tall Ships Festival.

After dinner in Salem we went out to the Salem Willows, and Grandpa and David went climbing on the rocks hunting for mussels.

Yesterday we also had a guest town, Phoebe, a family friend and former high school teacher. She was on her way from New York to Maine, and we were glad she was able to see a bit of Salem on her trip. (If anyone is ever passing through Southern New England, please let us know. We would love to show you around.) She was able to see a few of our historic buildings, such as the Jonathan Corwin House (known as the Witch House), the only building in Salem with direct ties to the Witch Trials, as it was the home to one of the judges. It is also America's oldest wooden home.
