Our big girl

We've still been keeping busy with the new house from painting to hanging cabinets to finishing the floors. Avonlea Jane has luckily been content to play in her room. She is still sleeping with us at night, but she loves that she has a space for all of her toys. Her favorite part of her room is her bookshelf. She can entertain herself for quite some time with all of her books. She picks up a book, goes through all the pages, then picks up another. The stairs of the house have been a constant source of entertainment as well. We know whenever she's crawled to the base of the stairs, because there are peals of laughter. She laughs not because stairs are funny, but it is her warning sound that she's about to do something naughty. (We hope this is a habit she will retain through her teen years.)

Her walking skills are improving by the day. She has yet to take her first unassisted steps, but she can walk while holding a hand or with a hand on the wall. Her vocal skills are markedly improving as well. Her vocabulary consists of: Mama, Dada (who is sometimes Dah-yee), yeah, no (which is usually nonononononono), baby, May-bee (which is Mabel), nummy nummy (which she says when she's eating or hungry), and occasionally up and hi. The only signs she does consistently are waving, light, Daddy, and more. All of these communication skills are elusive though, and she certainly doesn't perform, so don't hold your breath for them to be revealed in your presence.
