Avonlea Jane was very excited about her homemade Goldilocks costume. She wasn't the only one. My pride knew no bounds after making a garment that actually zipped and covered everything it was supposed to cover. There may have been some gratuitous victory dancing and comparing myself to Zeus birthing Athena from his brain. David was a good sport and very generous with high fives. He barely even rolled his eyes whenever I would declare, "I have made dress!" ala Tom Hanks making fire in Castaway. Until this point, I had been convinced that there was a domestic gene passed through my mother's family that somehow missed me.; now I know it was just dormant.
The apron (which she also wore last year as Dorothy) and the bloomers were made by my grandmother for a life-size Raggedy Ann doll I've had since childhood.
