Museums in Toronto

All over downtown Toronto there were pianos for people to play.

Outside the Royal Ontario Museum

They had quite a few totem poles--Liv's favorite

Learning how to dress Joan of Arc in armor

We thought the ROM far surpassed the Museum of Natural History in New York in terms of its exhibits and activities for kids.

"Fish!"

One of the best parts of the museum were seeing the architectural integration of the old museum building with the new expansion. The entire former structure was left intact.

The coolest exhibit we saw was an artistic notation of the works of Mozart.

You can just make out the CN Tower in the background.

We hit the St. Lawrence Market to find food for lunch.

On the wharf

Our second museum was the Museum of Inuit Art on Queens-Quay. When we told the docents that we came to this part of Toronto just to visit the MIA, they were thrilled; they don't get too many visitors. We let them know we're big fans of Inuit art. They made sure to send our kids home with craft packets to make their own Inuit-style art.

Avonlea Jane's favorite

They had a whole display case of nursing statues. Will kept yelling and pointing, "Mummies! Mummies!"

He also liked the case of dolls, because most of the dolls had babies on their backs. "Ergo!"

Life imitates art.

"Mummies!"
