Happy Birthday and Happy Thanksgiving

Ready to go out for Mommy's birthday

Avonlea Jane was excited to be Christmas shopping in Newburyport. We found a bunch of great items for people on our list, as well as fun stuff for each of the kids at an estate jeweler. Avonlea Jane walked away with a bag of costume pieces for her dress-up box, and Will was happy to find a cowboy "He-he boach." (Read: horsey broach)

On Plum Island

It wouldn't be Mommy's birthday without a trip to the beach.

After the little kids and I got back from our day out, Gail came over to watch them while David, Michaela, and I went out to dinner to celebrate.

My 29th birthday heralded a big year of personal change. A few weeks before my 28th birthday, I decided to launch Operation Thinner by Thirty. A year in to the challenge, and I'm definitely pleased with the results so far, especially as I'm preparing to run in my second 5k this weekend.

Working on a Thanksgiving craft

Their dotted paper eventually became Indian corn stalks that were used for place settings at our Thankgiving table.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were able to share our table with a group of seventeen. This year was actually the first year with a need for a kids' table, as we had two other little ones join us, Taran and Finn. It was an evening full of great food (both traditional and paleo favorites) and plenty of game play. Michaela's previous foster family--Robert, Leticia, Taran, and Finn--were with us for the day and all stayed the night, allowing us to have a big family breakfast the next morning.
