David's real birthday celebration was a Thursday morning through Sunday night spent in a house rental with all of his friends from college, but his actual birthday started with an apple pie cake, which Will requested and then presents when he got home from work.
Avonlea Jane got him a couple Wii games the two of them could play together, and Mommy got him a grown up board game to play together.
Once the kids were in pajamas, we let them open some of their Easter gifts from Granny and Granpy early, as we were leaving town the next afternoon.
"Clothes! Clothes for Willie!" Will yelled.
"I want to try them on . . . on my head," she giggled.
Once the kids were in bed, two of David's co-workers and their spouses came over for dinner and drinks. Halfway through dinner, Avonlea Jane came downstairs and said she couldn't sleep. She decided to fill her time with packing her suitcase for the next day, but now she wanted to come say goodnight again. One of our guests asked her if she had done something different with her hair. She in fact had. She decided to give herself a little trim before going to see Brandy.
Her handiwork the next morning
Trying to cover it up by pulling it back
It's definitely a little punk.
Let's just slap a flower on it for now.
She'll eventually need to get all of her hair cut, but she cut it so close to the scalp that it would look worse to cut it now. We're going to let the short pieces grow through her dance recital, when we'll need to fake a bun, and then we'll get her a little pixie just in time for summer.
The damage
