The children's service

Once a year, our church has a children's service that is entirely run by the children, from the role of ushers, to the readers to the sermon. Avonlea Jane was asked to be the chalice lighter for the service, and she was thrilled. She was the representative for the nursery school class, and the only child to obviously be "off-scipt," as she can't read.

The high school seniors greeting the congregation

"Dr. Martin Luther said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' Today we light this chalice for the justice inside ourselves."

She wanted a clearer version of her doing it.

Then she said she wanted to do it again, that she could do it even better.
