Bellingham and Port Townsend

The mermaid of Oak Harbor

A beautiful mural in Bellingham, which is an hour northeast of Oak Harbor

The old Town Hall in Bellingham, now a part of the Whatcom Museum campus

Our afternoon in Bellingham included going into the largest used bookstore we had ever seen. In addition to the great number of books, the sections were extremely specific: history of Christmas, natives of Alaska, teaching writing theory, poetry for middle school, carving miniature boats.

Dillon is checking out the "flight memoir" section.

The Whatcom Museum, where we went to see an exhibit on Pacific Northwest art

Bellingham was full of murals.

He's not unhappy, just hungry.

Even the drives on the highway are attractive in Washington.

Walking downtown for Oak Harbor's Fourth OH July celebration

Leading the flag corps of U.S. state flags was a tractor pulling Jesus.

Sherwin Williams handed out parade t-shirts. We scored two.

If it walks like a duck . . .

We totally just walked the parade route.

We went to the carnival downtown, and Dillon said he was going to look unhappy the enter ride.

He couldn't maintain that face, though after ten seconds of the ride, we both decided it was bad idea to ride things set up once a week.

Dillon takes his bumper cars seriously.

After the parade, we boarded the ferry for Port Townsend.

PT is known for its architecture.

We ran into a man walking around with a snake. Dillon introduced himself.
