Beating the heat

On the hottest day of the summer, I asked the kids what they wanted to do. They both enthusiastically answered, "Go to the Rebecca Nurse Homestead." I agreed, if we went to the splash pool afterward. These kids had been on a real Salem history kick, though, and were determined to the the homestead of one of the most famous victims of the Salem Witch Trials.

I've lost count of the number of pictures we have of our kids standing in front of old kitchen fireplaces.

"That is a chamber pot."

Seeing a building built for the filming of "Three Sovereigns for Sarah."

Tricorns and shorts: nice look

Finally, cooling off at the splash pool!

Another way to beat the heat was heading to Nahant beach to see our friends.

There was a current/undertow advisory, so all the kids had to wear lifevests.
