Fall is finally here

Finally, it’s fall! This seasonal transition has been a welcome one. We were done with hot weather and ready for long sleeves and crisp days. This weekend we went to the orchard for some apple picking. There’s nothing like the season’s first apple or your first cup of cider. We certainly picked the most popular day to go. When we went a few weeks ago, there were less than ten other people at the orchard store; this weekend we had to wait in line over 30 minutes just to get on one of the hayrides out to the picking trees. We weren't quick enough to get good Honeycrisps, but we did get some great Gingergolds. (We were a week early for Golden Delicious.) The only unfortunate part of our day was when I bit into an apple and did in fact eat a worm (well, part of it). It's one of those things you hear about but never actually do. We just chalked it up as extra protein for the baby. We stocked up not only on apples but hard cider for the late fall and apple cider doughnuts for right now.

We can't even express how glad we are to be having an autumn baby; it really seems like the best time to be pregnant. Even though a lot of new creatures are born in the spring, I feel very in tune with the seasons. Our little one was planted at the end of winter and grew all spring and summer, and we'll get the reward of all of that work in the fall.
It’s very exciting to have our baby during harvest time, and then we can get to know the baby while hibernating for the winter. We’re overjoyed for our little Scorpio baby (the baby would need to be three weeks early to not be a Scorpio but to be a Libra like both of its uncles), especially because it means that both mom and baby will be water signs.

This is a little bit of catch up. This is the corduroy Mei Tai that I made weeks ago. David is clearly way psyched to be wearing it. I loved the elephant fabric of the pouch too much not to include it as a pocket on this carrier. It isn't very deep, but it will hold keys and a cell phone. In making this carrier, I definitely had a slip in intelligence. In measuring how long the ties would need to be to go around my waist twice, I forgot to take off inches because of my belly. So, the ends will most likely get majorly hemmed once the baby arrives.

There was a cry for more belly shots and it has been answered. You can click on photos to see them larger, but remember to hit the back key or you will close your browser.

Both of these pics were taken at 33 weeks.
