A rough week

This last week has been a rough one in our household, as one by one, we all got sick. Avonlea Jane was sick first and thankfully for only a day and thankfully not when I was sick. We could tell she didn't understand what was happening with her body, but she wasn't in poor spirits. David and I fell sick after she was better, and I learned there is nothing quite as miserable as taking care of a baby when you're sick. Luckily, our sickness was staggered, and David was able to take family sick time to stay home with Avonlea Jane when I wasn't well.

Everyone is finally feeling much better, but in the last week or so, a spell has been cast on Avonlea Jane. She may simply be teething or she wasn't feeling well before her symptoms showed, but our calm and agreeable baby has been replaced with a child whose theme song is Patti LuPone's "I Like to Fuss." She's primarily been like this at home, and we're hoping hoping hoping it's a short-lived phase.

Oh my gosh, I know exactly what you mean about it stinking to be sick and taking care of a sick baby. We, too, just went through the staggered sickness dance. First it was me, then it was Tedd, and finally, while we were still sick, Paloma caught our bug. Luckily it seemed like her version of it wasn't as bad, but then I came down with a secondary sinus infection and that really was the worst of it!
