Salem's So Sweet Ice Sculpture Festival

Avonlea Jane loves stuff that is just her size, especially the rocking chair she got for Easter last year. Here, she is waiting for breakfast on Saturday morning.

This weekend was the annual Salem's So Sweet Ice Sculpture and Chocolate Festival. There was no fear of the sculptures melting this year, as they have done in prior years, because the temperature was hovering around twenty degrees. Regardless of the cold, we all bundled up and headed around town to enjoy the day.

After walking around all day, Avonlea Jane was fighting to hold her eyes open on the walk home.

After enjoying the festival, we went as a family to the Salem High School performance of Sweeney Todd. (Here is Avonlea Jane getting ready to go.) Avonlea Jane likes the lights and songs, but professional theatre performances aren't as baby-friendly as those at the school. While we did spend much of the show sitting on the floor at the back of the auditorium with a pile of toys, Avonlea Jane did have a good time. She loved to clap between all of the songs.
