Salem Ice Cream Scooper Bowl

The beginning of August heralds Heritage Days in Salem, a week and a half full of family events. Several things we were looking forward to this week were postponed or cancelled, but the threat of rain didn't stop us from going to the Scooper Bowl on the Common.

When we got in line to buy our tickets to try all of the area's favorite ice cream, we were happily between Erin and Caedmon and our former neighbor Scott.

Avonlea Jane was thrilled to have seen Cad at her Tuesday playdate with Justin and Violet and then to see him again on the Common.

Waiting for Ben and Jerry's (Avonlea Jane obviously doesn't read.)

While Erin and David worked through some of the ice cream lines, Avonlea Jane wanted her face painted.

On her way to being the cutest puppy ever

We enjoyed flavors from all the lines just before the rain really started to come down. Avonlea Jane's favorites were her old stand-by "manilla" (just like her Uncle Dillon who wouldn't eat anything else as a kid) and Rita's mango frozen ice.

Apparently, puppies don't walk in the rain.
