Halloween

Halloween in Salem this year was definitely quieter than in past years, whether due to it falling on a Monday or the weekend's snow. We were only downtown for a little bit, though before heading home to collect candy.

Eager to start trick-or-treating

We went out trick-or-treating with our neighbors Doug, Janet, Baby Elias, Karen, Kate, and Baby Grace. Avonlea Jane was thrilled to share the experience. She did most of her door knocking with her preferred partners of Karen or Doug, though.

After an hour or so of going around the neighborhood, we headed home so David could pass out pretzels and Avonlea Jane could sort and sort and re-sort her haul.

Salem closes the festivities with ten o'clock fireworks, so we let Avonlea Jane get out of bed and come snuggle up with us on the sofa in our study to watch the fireworks from the window. She was already excited for Halloween next year.
