Happy half birthday, William!

Happy third (and a half) birthday, Sir William.

Beware the dragon on top of that cake!

Our palatial living room

Our torches

We're kicking ourselves for not getting straight on photos. David made a huge drawbridge door to the front of the house, bracketed by torches. The fence also sported shields for each child in attendance, half with their mother's maiden crest and the other half with their father's crest. It required a lot of odd messages: "Is your wife of the M--s of Germany or Wales?"

Our station for kids to make their own shields. We had some guides out about what colors and shapes meant what on a crest.

Carolyn, Dame Micaela, and Joe

My favorite part of the party was this pig. I wanted to hang all the kids stuffed rabbits from the ceiling in the kitchen to make it look more like a castle kitchen. David thought that was too morbid for a kid party.

We neglected to get a photo of our buffet once the roasted vegetables, potatoes, and drumsticks were out. In true Medieval Times style, we didn't provide our guests with utensils until the cake.

Making shields until all the kids arrive

Dame Micaela came in her knight gear and talked to the kids about being a knight--what they wore, what they carried, etc.

The kids were full of questions: "Can I lift your sword?" "Can you feel it if I hit you here?"

After seeing what to do with a wooden sword, the kids were able to try to lift a real sword.

Having a knight at the party was a real hit.

Our fair maidens awaiting their part in our knight training.

After learning about being a knight, the kids had to take part of a training. They had to cross a moat, mount a steed, ride it to the tower of fair maidens, ask for their favor, catch a favor, get a lance, and joust against the undefeated, dreaded Sir Joe.

"Fair maidens, fair maidens!"

Joe is a good friend for letting small children hit him with a foam lance.

The kids loved this.

After all of the kids completed the training, a wizard appeared in the tower to leave them with a quest.

The squires were sent on a mission to find the world's last dragon egg.

Getting another clue for the egg

Huzzah! The dragon egg has been found!

Oh, no! The dragon has appeared to avenge her egg!

The kids lined up by height to take turns attempting to slay the dragon. Louise, our dragon wrangler, did a great job of making the dragon fly away so that every kid at least had one turn at trying to slay the beast.

Avonlea Jane was the one to finally take out the dragon. Afterward, all of the kids were knighted and presented with swords.

This is was time for the kingdom to rejoice with cake a slices of dragon's egg

Everyone agreed that this party was pretty boss.

The rest of the party dissolved into hit David with a sword.
