Getting to know Avonlea Jane

We have been truly blessed to have such a wonderful baby girl! Not only do we think she is just the cutest baby, but Avonlea Jane is the dream newborn. She latched on perfectly the first time and has had no problems nursing. She very rarely fusses. She enjoys having her diaper changed, because that means that she is going to be touched, as she loves to be rubbed and massaged. The only things that we've found so far that she doesn't like is sleeping flat on her back (most likely due to reflux, as it is the only time she really fusses), and she would much rather sleep lying with her head on your arm.
Avonlea Jane is also quite partial to Christmas carols, of which she got to hear many when we went to greet Santa. Santa Claus arrived in Salem Friday night, appearing on the roof of the Hawthorne Inn and climbing down a firetruck ladder. Here she is all bundled up in a Santa outfit that was a gift from her great-great grandma.

An interesting fact that we just realized was that she was born on the saint day of Saint Hugh of Lincoln, from Avalon (Burgundy), son to the Lord of Avalon. This is interesting because it has been suggested that Lucy Maud Montgomery based the name Avonlea from the mystical Avalon.
