This week, David has been taking a course at M.I.T. for work. On Wednesday, the class hosted a dinner for students and their families at Legal Seafood in Cambridge. On our way to meet David, we had a five block walk from the car to the restaurant, and Avonlea Jane stopped to say hi and bye to every single person we passed. Normally she's in a stroller or a carrier, so it was a treat for her to be able to walk so far on her own. The dinner was very nice, even though we had to wait two hours for our food to arrive. Thank goodness there were fish tanks in the restaurant to entertain Avonlea Jane. She was also very pleased with her first tastes of mussels and scallops.

Trying new things
Last Saturday, we spent the day playing croquet on the Common, something Avonlea Jane enjoys very much.

Today it reached 93 degrees in Salem! All day long, Avonlea Jane kept asking, "Bath? Pool?" This evening, we decided it was way too hot to cook in the house or even eat in it, so we took Avonlea Jane to have Thai food for the first time. I love Thai food, and we were both very excited to see her try curry for the first time. She absolutely loved pad thai and was equally pleased with a yellow tofu curry. The curry was a little spicier than David would have liked, but Avonlea Jane enjoys spicy food. Every time she would take a bite, she would hunch her shoulders, get a goofy grin on her face, laugh "Hehehe! Hot!" while signing hot, and then take another bite. The waitress was really impressed that she would even try it and was happy to tell us that if she liked that curry at her age, by the time she's an adult, she'll be able to eat anywhere in the world and be happy.
