All year, Avonlea Jane asked to go to a water park, and we told her we would go this summer. We decided to take her to a family amusement park with a water area instead of a full water park so we'd have more variety. Last Friday, David took off of work so that we could spend the day at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire.
"He-he!"
Leading us through the maze
There were a ton of rides for the little ones, and they loved riding together.
Avonlea Jane was just tall enough to ride on some of the adult rides. After watching what this ride looked like, the adolescent girl in front of us chickened out, and another adolescent girl sitting across from us screamed the whole time. Avonlea Jane, however, loved it.
More horsies
You could push the bar to make this helicopter go up and down, and Will got a kick out of being in control.
He was having a good time until Avonlea Jane took over and they were the highest kids on the ride. They had to stop it a little early to let a crying Will get off.
This park had he-hes galore.
Avonlea Jane also rode her first kiddie coaster (not pictured), and she proudly kept her hands up the whole time. If it hadn't started raining, she could have ridden it all day.
Having a picnic lunch in the car
Our first stop after lunch was the water park area. Avonlea Jane was so excited--until faced with the prospect of actually getting wet. She refused to get water on her head and wouldn't do any of the slides. Will, however, loved every minute we were there. He excitedly went down slides side-by-side with six year olds. Avonlea Jane kept asking when we would let her leave.
In addition to all the rides she did on her own, she rode several big people rides with Mommy. There was one she loved, which was very similar to the tea cups, except it was several stories off the ground. She kept pointing out cool things in the distance and far below us, while I refused to look at anything but her and was counting down the seconds until the ride stopped.
Other than a few hiccups, Canobie Lake Park was a great choice, and we'll definitely be returning.
