First days of school

Our family has been so busy that we've been neglecting the blog a bit. Here's a peek at the beginning of our September.

Avonlea Jane got some new clothes for school, and both she and Will were excited to try them on.

At the start of September, David wanted to celebrate Michaela's first full week with us, so he asked her what her favorite cake was. She was soon presented with vanilla cake with strawberry filling and whipped cream frosting and sprinkles.

Later that week, it was Michaela's first day at Salem High School. We were far more excited to see her off than she was to be up so early.

I recently started running, and we joked that by doing so I was finally using my theatre degree, as I took a real Method acting approach to the activity. I bought all new running gear in the hopes that dressing like a real runner would make me one.

Avonlea Jane was super excited to wake up on her first day of school.

Incidentally, Avonlea Jane's desire to become a rescue diver has nothing to do with Uncle Dillon's rescue diver training. She's been talking about her dream prior to Dillon joining the Navy, and she actually thinks he was inspired by her future career rather than the other way around.

Avonlea Jane was very excited to go to school--Will, not so much. He cried and sobbed as she walked away, and he crawled out of the stroller, grabbing her hand to stop her. "My dister! No! 'troller, now. My dister, come!" He was upset the whole time she was gone.

When she was released for the day, Will was waiting for her with his nose against the glass, and as she came out the door, they ran to each other. "My dister! A'Jane!" Once he realized she was coming with us, he calmed down and became far more excited about her leftover snack.

We went from her first day of preschool to her first day of dance class. This year's class is a combo of pre-ballet and tumbling. Will did a lot better during this separation, as he ate the rest of her snack in the lobby.
