Thursday night officially kicked off the month of Halloween in Salem with the opening Haunted Happenings Parade. According to Will, the two kids were dressed as Tig and Poop.
Both costumes were handed down to Will by some friends, but Avonlea Jane insisted on squeezing into one.
Mommy pulled together a quick Waldo.
Waiting for the parade to start. We watched the parade with Megan, Geoff, and Jack; Joe and Carolyn; Leticia, Robert, Taran, and Finn.
When I told her to look festive, M stuck her tongue out.
"He-hes!" Will yelled as the police guard went by.
It was really too dark to photograph the parade, but the theme was animals around the world.
Doug stopped by to watch a little bit of the parade with us.
The next day while M was at school, we went to the grocery store. Will was a tired boy when we got home.
That evening was Mayor's Night Out, where many of the local attractions are free to residents. Avonlea Jane said she wanted to go to the "Witch House," the 1692 house of Judge Jonathon Corwin. It's the only house in Salem with direct ties to the witch trials and the oldest wooden house in America.
Waiting with Sydney to tour the New England Pirate Museum
Someone was too tired to walk.
With a wax figure of Winifred Sanderson from the movie Hocus Pocus, which was filmed in Salem.
I'm a big Winnie fan and insisted on my own photo.
When getting ready for Trick-or-Treating with the Mayor we ran into Joe and Charles.
With my little frog prince
Kids weren't the only ones with great costumes. Avonlea Jane loved seeing Glenda.
The kids were getting antsy for everything to start and happy to see Daddy, as he'd been in Indiana during the rest of the week.
In line to get candy in front of Bernard's.
We ran into some of our favorite people while trick-or-treating. Our frog princess with Violet as a snow fairy.
Will and Genevieve were both frogs

Instead of giving out candy, one of the businesses downtown was handing out children's books.
Waiting for our food at a new restaurant downtown
