On the way home

While David was packing up camp, the kids and I headed out for morning PJ hike with a scavenger hunt list.

The kids were pretty exhausted and sweaty at the end of our hike. Avonlea Jane walked a long way.

We chose to do a drive that would take us to several of the 1000 Places, like this view from Mt. Tom. We wound up crossing off 13 of the places on our weekend.

We stopped at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. Then we headed to a few museums in downtown Springfield.

In the science museum, Avonlea Jane was most interested by the animal tracking mystery board. She loved animal tracks, especially when you have to figure out what happened in a scene.

Our next stop was an art museum. We did the science museum, two art museums, and the Springfield History Museum.

After making their own caterpillars and doing some coloring in the kids' art center, the kids were eager to play dress up.

On our second pass through the garden, the kids were open to having their pictures taken.

After leaving Springfield, we drove to Palmer just to take Will to a train restaurant for lunch.
