We unexpectedly made a trip to Indiana this last week so that Avonlea Jane could meet her great-grandfather who is quite ill. While it wasn't the happiest occasion for which to travel, our trip went very well. We were worried about how she would fare in the car for so long, but she slept nearly the whole way. We made sure to stop every two and half hours, before she woke up, to proactively feed her. She really only got fussy once, and that was twenty minutes before we arrived to my grandparents house, and only because we drove twenty minutes longer than we should have. We also had wonderful weather while we were traveling--nearly seventy degrees in Ohio!
During the course of our week, we were able to spend time with both sets of my grandparents and both sets of parents. We were also able to see all of the Cole cousins and aunts and uncles when we first arrived, which was wonderful because we hadn't seen all of the cousins in two years. We were even able to meet for the first time Evelyn Ann, my cousin Justin's second baby, who is about to turn one. Avonlea Jane was also able to briefly see Uncle Jeff which was highly unexpected. We have many wonderful pictures of the family, including a five-generation photo, but we left our camera in Indiana. As soon as we get the camera back, we will quickly post family photos.
We took the drive home slowly and stopped by New Jersey to see Brandy and Yuri on the way home, and were able to stay for dinner through lunch the next day. This was a great treat, as now that they are in New Jersey and just outside of the city, and no longer in New Haven, it takes a lot longer of a drive to see each other.
