Before Avonlea Jane was born, we did an Internet search to see if there were other girls named Avonlea, and we didn't turn up any results. In fact, we did a name search of U.S. records and found that there were zero girls named Avonlea. However, this week in looking around online, we found 42 girls named Avonlea on the Facebook. In other searches, we found two girls named Avonlea Jane and one named Jane Avonlea. There are 336 people in the U.S. with Avonlea as a last name. And, a new record shows there might be up to 1,500 girls named Avonlea in the U.S.! There is even a town in Saskatchewan named Avonlea. How did we somehow miss all of this?
Here we thought we had named our daughter something quite unique. At least we don't know anyone else with the same name. Honestly, we're a little put out about all of the Avonleas.

Hi! I came across your blog as I was double checking the popularity of Avonlea for a girl's name. My husband and I have planned to anme a daughter Avonlea Elizabeth or Avonlea Elise for years. 1500 is really not that many and you won't be likely to personally know any other Avonleas. I absolutely LOVE the name and think you picked a beautiful one for your precious little girl!
