The Topsfield Fair

After taking Mawmaw to the airport on Monday, we took advantage of David's day off of work and went to the Topsfield Fair, the oldest fair in the country. The day was cold and cloudy, which made it the perfect day to go to the fair without the crowds.

Avonlea Jane loved seeing all of the animals: chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pheasants, rabbits, guinea pigs, cows, horses, miniature horses, honey bees, sheep, alpacas, llamas, pigs, and goats.

Many of the animals were available to pet and feed. Avonlea Jane got the opportunity to brush a calf, for which she was given her very own fair ribbon.

Other than the animals, Avonlea Jane's favorite part of the day was a concert by family entertainers Vic & Sticks: A Recycled Rhythm Band. We think this is what Grandpa C should do when he retires.

Avonlea Jane picked out a drum from the bag of recycled instruments available for the kids to play during the show. She gave each of us castanets and later broke out her own kazoo to play along.

While walking around the fair, we ran into Violet.
