A visit from Mawmaw

This weekend, we were lucky to have Avonlea Jane's great-grandmother, Mawmaw, in town.
She got in on Thursday evening and was able to stay until Monday. We were glad that her visit allowed her to see Salem in October, as it is quite an experience.

The first day that Mawmaw was in town, we spent a rainy day at the Peabody-Essex Museum visiting the American maritime galleries and the optical illusion gallery/discovery center. On Saturday, David was home from Portland, and we were blessed with good weather to explore more of Salem. We took Mawmaw to the visitors' center to see a film on the history of Essex County and then hopped on a trolley for a tour of the city.

Our first Salem Trolley tour

We hopped off half way through the trolley tour to have lunch at the Salem Willows and to give Avonlea Jane a little break from sitting still.

On Sunday, we were back to cloudy, rainy weather, so we saw Marblehead Neck, downtown Marblehead, and more of Salem by car before heading home to spend the rest of the day inside playing games.
